The Town Egg and the Country Egg

Can you tell which two came from the store? Our hens surprised us by laying again this week. It is always so nice to have fresh eggs again. Even those labeled free range and organic are much lighter in color and more watery in texture. If you can find a farmer it is worth the trouble.

  1. Of course there’s so much more than “the look” of the egg differences, the “taste” is something to differ on too. We proudly support a local parish farming family and purchase all of our eggs from them. πŸ™‚ It’s so worth the wait if we run out rather than heading off to the store…ahhhhh…..

  2. I have know this for years, but it took your photos to urge me to go for farm fresh eggs. There is a farm in Queens (believe it or not) with fresh eggs for sale. I even found one of their chickens crossing the road one day…

  3. When Mom and Dad were still on the farm I’d carry dozens of farm fresh eggs (multicolored arucanas) back to the boat in my carry-on! No one ever said anything going through security, isn’t that crazy?
