Moira hosted a birthday party for a friend of hers the other night.  I learned so much just watching her friend's mom set up at our place.  Such a talent she has for awesome party decor.  I took notes and thought you might enjoy some of her ideas as well.

Alannah made the cake and cupcakes in the colors the girls chose.  Mom set up two snack bars.  This first one is the s'mores station.  Since it was dark and rainy she had it all arranged to toast by sterno.  It worked too!

There was also a hot cocoa bar with electric kettles, to go cups (thank you thoughtful mama!!) and extras.

We put together a photobooth which got a LOT of use.  A lot.  A whole lot!   We gathered what props we could find and they printed and assembled more.

I am so grateful when the teens' friends are happy to hang out here.

Apartment in Rome

I love seeing how other people live around the world so in that spirit I caught a few pictures of the flat we rented in Rome to share with you.  The white walls were so nice.  The white sofa….less nice.  I think I am officially over my white slipcover obsession.  Ok not really but they'd need daily washing in my world and I AM over that.

It was a wonderful sunny bright space.  Definitely Euro-sized but fabulous for our needs.

today

Today…..

…it was too cold and wet for big boys to run outside.  This was a shame all around.

….we decided to try to get to homeschool bowling…and ended up being the only ones who went.  But it was ok because,

…B made me smile reciting "Jack Be Limbo, Jack Be Quick" in the car very sincerely

…hot cocoa was mixed with peppermint tea versus water.  This will happen again. : )

…bits of felt and thread skip from room to room

…we learned hands-on about the stages of candy making – soft ball to hard crack.

…there was watercoloring, and some tears over smudges on watercolored projects and assurances that more watercoloring practice would make for an easier go of it

…Abbie unwrapped lots of candy kisses for cookies going to her big brothers.

…and wanted to know what "hold your horses" meant

….we made this centerpiece.

I tried to find the original post from Pinterest but it only linked back to this blog where I have yet to track it down.  It has been a most pleasant search however.  Gorgeous blog!

Directions: Salt in oversized vase with a gingerbread house.  We used a little German ginger-angel instead.
