Thrifted Fun

I snagged some fun things while thrift shopping this past month and meant to share some pics:

Cherub I could not pass this one up! It was tucked down on a bottom shelf in between pots and such. I wasn’t at all sure what to do with him but my mother suggested soaps and that turned out to be perfect. He is living in my bathroom now. : )

Then I saw this frame:

Frame One should never pass up a scrollwork frame. Even if said frame must live in your hallway while you decide what to do with it. <g> So here is it while I toss around the options: white distressed finish? black? mirror? padded fabric ala bulletin board……  Time will tell.

Some virtual window shopping fun here

  1. Ok, I am trying this again. My computer ate my response….
I love “reclaimed treasures”! So much fun!
In the past we have used frames for…
framing the kiddoes’ art work. (a pic of the week frame)
We used the bases of the frames to make relief maps out of model magic and framed them and hung them on the wall.
We used them for framing a piece of fine art that we wanted to cover for art study…a pic of the month type of deal. I purchased a few different sizes of mat board to fit it to accommodate different sized work.
You could always paint it to match your wonderful new washer and dryer and scrap-lift the directions for washing in a pretty way and mount near the machines…
I always wanted to frame the great looking sharpie art that a toddler left on the wall of my room, complete with little fingerprints and signature…LOL
What about a pic of the Madonna of the Chair…can you tell I am working on Atrium stuff right now? ;o)
I don’t know how big it is, but it might make a pretty oval mirror for a little girl’s room hung at her height with a pretty ribbon hanging underneath it and beneath the mirror a place to clip hair barrettes…or a bathroom mirror too….ooh I could think of tons more!

  2. Ahh now see I should have mentioned the frame came sans glass. : / I have a huge sheet of mirror in our shed but I am not sure how easy it is to cut glass/mirror? Also thought of those displays you often see of lovely frames just hanging by themselves in a wall grouping if I can’t figure out the glass part.

  3. I like the padded fabric bulletin board idea, or a collection of something really cool and tactile that just begs to be touched like antique keys arranged on velvet as there is no glass. Please let us know what you decide!
