Girls, check this out. Another must try project. Thrift stores tend to have those old popcorn tins in abundance. Never occurred to me to repaint and label them. Til now. : ) And of course I can’t stop thinking about it now. So unless Jen sends me the real McCoy from her trip next week I am tucking this idea into my brain for future projects.
Hmm…I know a hint when I see one! 😉
I love these! Now I’ll have a whole new appreciation for when someone gives me a tin of popcorn at Christmas time. What a fabulous idea, and a thrifty project!
I don’t understand how to do the labelling. Does it require special paper? I love your blog, I check in everyday or so.
You have two options for labeling. You can do it the way she describes. Then you go to your word processing program, type out a word or letter (like in Word Art) and then use you command to print it in reverse. Then color the back of that printed word with heavy pencil. Press it to the tin and trace over it. It will leave a light outline on the tin. You can then use a paint pen to go over it directly on the tin.
OR you could use scrapbook letter stickers which are readily available. Scrapbook rub ons work great too. That would be my vote unless you needed a size you couldn’t find or wanted a specific font.
What a wonderful idea!! My kids are going to love this homeschool project!! Thanks
Thank you so much for answering my question. I understand now. This will be so fun and cheap!
Awesome, I love this! Stewing all kinds of ideas now for cute containers. 🙂
