resolution

"To try as much as possible not to sacrifice my daily meditation, in spite of active occupations and duties.  In that medititation and close contact with God my soul finds greater strength to perform the wearisome, monotonous tasks of every day, to act.  Those things are better carried out that have first been prepared in deliberation with the master and friend, and the soul remains at peace in the midst of every agitation and grief.

To exercise one's will to work with one's hands and brain, to acquire knowledge.  To fortify one's thoughts, one's will, and even one's feelings, and yet preserve all their gentleness and depth.  To Jesus my Savior and master I offer all these resolutions…. may He help me…."

  1. What a wonderful quote! Thank you so much for sharing this. I have really been struggling to make sure I get in my morning prayers before the chaos of the day sets in. (And dare I try a little scripture study?!) I really appreciate the inspiration.

  2. Thank-you for posting this and reminding me of her book that I have kept next to my reading seat for a couple of years. It seems a good time to re-open it.

  3. Thank you for posting this quote. I too posted it on my blog and after searching for worthy New Year’s resolution I narrowed it down to just this one – as stated so eloquently by Elizabeth Leseur. I am now inspired even more to learn more about her. I have one book about her. God Bless and Happy Feast of the Ephiphany!
