the train

The train took us to Neustadt this weekend for the annual winefest and crowning of the National Wine Queen.  Or princess or some such royalty, which judging by the campaigning was a really big deal.  The wine princesses from the various city fest's go through a number of competitions to reach this one, which involves lots of suits and heels and noisemakers

and of course, wine.  When in Rome….

or well, Neustadt at harvest time, you sample some Neuer Wein, literally New Wine, which is like lemonade with a kick.  Or so I am told.  My taste runs more along the Jones Soda lines truth be told.

There was a fantastic vintage carnival.

  1. where do you live, if I may ask??? I have seen your blog a few times. I was guessing around Colorado for some reason> But these pictures are throwing me. 🙂 i know it’s not even my business. I just thought I’d ask. I saw you connected to another blogger. Lady of Virtue/Large Family Mothering. I don’t have a blog yet, but I did get some pictures up on Facebook. Like I said, I don’t know you and I know it’s not my business, just wanted to ask because of the pictures. Thanks, Be Blessed.

  2. Don’t apologize! I really need to sit down and update the About button and clarify. We did live in CO for many years. This year we moved to Germany (for the second time). I had toyed with starting a new blog but didn’t want to lose the established links etc so I stayed here. But I need to perhaps keep a post up top for new visitors since you are not the first person to wonder.

  3. thanks for the answer! 🙂 I’m new tho the blogging world but love looking at pictures, especially of life and people. I used to love looking at pictures of older generations when I was younger, and I used to even like looking at yearbooks….I guess I am just a picture person. 🙂 You have a lovely blog and have beautiful pictures. Another blog I like the pictures on is Daily Pleasures. I guess I have been looking around less than a year. I had pretty much stopped with email, but heard of Facebook from my niece, and then heard of twitter and blogging……….I can do without tweets! 🙂 But all the pictures are nice. Thanks again,
    Robyn
