Make Way For Ducklings

I realize this makes two bird posts in one week.  Came around a corner this morning and had to hit the breaks for a long line of ducklings waddling down the road. They seemed just as surprised to see me and finally hunkered down near the shoulder as we passed.  ducklings
Do all mama's do this?  Have this rush of adrenaline, mind racing thinking where is your mama?? (or farmer or whatever?) How long have you been out?  There is another car coming.  Omigosh I cannot look.  I really need to DO something.  I will drive over between them and the car….

Yeah.  It really doesn't matter the species.  I have permanent mama wrinkles in my being I think.

  1. You’re not alone in those feelings! We saw a little kitten outside of Aldi the other day, and, thankfully, there was an older woman trying to rescue it and find out where it belonged. She told us that she would take care of it. I’m not sure that I would have made that effort in the heat with a van full of kids, but I certainly would have worried about that kitten… maybe saying a prayer to St. Francis! 🙂 +JMJ+

  2. Hey, you’re doing all of my favorite books lately. Anything by Robert McCloskey! And, by the way, I know exactly how you feel about motherliness to every species! Same way here. And it’s multiplied many times over with those grandkids. . . 🙂
