Seeing Europe – Griswold Style

If you travel with us you should have a sense of humor. We do our share of cathedrals and places of awe and majesty.  But kids get a little maxed out with awe and majesty after a while.  And since their mother is a bit of a crack up always trying to insert levity into the day you might find us….

For instance, we never did figure out the automated, self-cleaning potty (though I really wish I had one at home!) which resulted in a high speed run to McDonald's where we slowed down long enough to allow for a certain passenger to fly out of the vehicle in the nick of time.  (You should also know that in this country restrooms are sorta optional, and it is a good idea to guard your eyes when passing open fields on the roadsides… Yeah.  Not for us.)

Anyway, I was laughing may way through editing and thought I'd share. Have a fabulous weekend!

  1. I had to laugh at the automated self-cleaning potty. One of the things I remember most about my time in Europe is the range of weird, strange, bizarre potties. 😉

  2. Your trips look fun. Can you adopt me? As like a needy, old aunt?
Those are some pretty serious faces in the gelato shop. They take their ice cream very serious.
PS I would love the “pee” sign for my little half bathroom but it might look odd on the wall next to the nativity print currently in there. 😉

  3. Oh my goodness. I was totally blown away. I had completely forgotten about ice cream spaghetti style. Literally, you said that and it was BOOM! I loved that stuff, how could I have ever forgotten?
I am so sad that I didn’t appreciate living in Germany when I was there. I miss it so much now. And visiting Europe. Sigh. Thank you for sharing your memories and flooding me with my forgotten ones!
