Jewish Quarter – Prague

Are you tired of Prague yet?  Probably.  You have no idea how many pictures I took.  I used to think I would pursue portraiture once I had a clue how to use my camera, but I have become captivated by street photography both taking it and viewing others' work.

This is a walk through the Jewish Quarter one afternoon.  If you make it to the end there are some of my favorite images (and a short video) of an old gentleman who was performing in the square.  These old European cities have awesome street performers.

  1. I really, really, really like your street photography. And Prague is gorgeous. I could never tire of looking at it. I showed your rainy day Prague pics to my son a few days ago and he was blown away. Such a great moodiness you were able to capture. And I love your farm pics as well. Keep them coming!

  2. Hi Kim-
Well, you happen to both live in/visit great places for street photography AND you take great shots- what’s not to love?
Sadly, I left my camera battery at home this weekend when we took a trip to our state park for the night. Yea- I had the camera but not the battery and the little towns did not sell a spare. That’s what I get for telling Jerry that he should have woken up earlier to get all his things ready!
You have been on my mind- I hope you are all well and enjoying yourselves.
    Love,
    Tracey

  3. Dear Kim,
I am not tired of Praha–did you know I speak Czech as a second language? Mluvim cesky, ale jenom trochu! I fell in love with Prague while in Germany, but only through pictures in a National Geographic magazine! The iron curtain was still up then. I am glad to see there are still Jews in the Jewish quarter. There was a time when this was the largest Jewish population in all of Europe (perhaps the world at the time, before Israel was reestablished), but you probably already know that!
I am so glad to see that you and your family are still enjoying the journey. I pray for you often and enjoy seeing how you are all doing!
    Blessings,
    Sherry

  4. The Jewish Quarter in Prague, known as Josefov, is located between the Old Town Square and the Vltava River. Its torrid history dates back to the 13th century, when the Jewish community in Prague were ordered to vacate their disparate homes and settle in one area…And its So beautiful….
