"Better than an argument is to rise at dawn and pick dew-wet red berries in a cup." Wendall Berry
Yep. No words can explain the pure joy of pulling food right off the plant. No words necessary to explain their reaction….
After which the who-can-catch-a-berry-by-mouth game commenced.
May I present the winner….

OK, I know the climate there is considerably cooler than it is here, but still! How is it possible that you can be picking blackberries now when they were done, over, gone, kaput, literally months ago here?
Yep this was days ago in Devon. You can see they’ve got one sweatshirts because it was pretty cool outside.
That’s one thing fascinating to me every new place we go – growing seasons. Friends in Texas say they grow late winter to early summer. In the Midwest we didn’t put anything (besides cold crops like spinach) in the ground til Memorial Day. And here they have berries just now (it was a cool summer) but then since it may not freeze hard they will also be growing some vegs til Dec.
